I am all out of blood, pee and hair

January 13th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Well, isn’t MS fun? Today was my appointment with the Naturopath and boy was it interesting. She took about 6 huge veils of blood. She wants 24 hours of my pee. AND SHE WANTS MY HAIR! She is very demanding this one….

I didn’t get a chance to read the lab form but there were a lot of labs run. A few that she is running include C-Reactive Protein to check for inflammation, a full food allergy panel (yay!), Thyroid, and vitamin D. She is also going to have me cut off some hair and send that in for a heavy metal test which will also include magnesium. And now the part I am not so fond of….

I have to collect my pee for 24 hours. Now, I might seem insensitive but I do giggle a little when I see someone carrying around a jug of pee. Or like the last time I was at the lab and some dude plopped down 2 gallons of pee on the counter in the lab… But this is my pay back. 24 hours straight of *my* pee. I have the pretty orange jug in my car.

She made it clear that I Copaxone is defensive and she will be offensive. She keeps everyone on their prescription medications and doesn’t try and change them. She said 50% of her patients are MS and she loves working with MS patients.

I will have another appointment in a month to go over the lab results. It takes a while for the allergy tests to come in. More later….

Well the pee collection sucks but I think all the testing and interventions sound like a great idea.

Nina, thanks for posting this link on PLM. I went through a similar ordeal a few years back in an effort to determine my body toxins…tu rns out I was overloaded with copper and radium, but the copper toxicity has many of the same symptoms as MS! I did an oral chelation treatment……did not notice any difference.
