The pre-medication medication

Well, I went to the doc on Friday for a redo on injection training. I arrived bright and early at 8am. The front desk at the University of Washington MS clinic is disorganized. I know the doctor said he wanted a nurse visit but he also wanted to be there during the appointment. The front desk only made an appointment with the doctor and it turns out the nurse doesn’t arrive until 9am. I decided to wait until a nurse was there but they got me in early to see a rehab nurse instead of injection.

She was helpful but did say she doesn’t do this much. She watched me do the injection and saw the reaction. It is a bit on the extreme side as reactions go but she said it is suppose to do that. I can’t wait for pills!

Anyway, as part of my pre-shot process, I now have two medications in order to take the medication (heh!). First, the flonase nasal spray which is applied to the skin. I asked the doc about the lotion he said he just heard the nasal spray works better. Second, lidocaine which numbs the spot. That was the nurses idea. It seems like a lot of drama for one shot but it is very nice that they are trying things. I know a lot of people have reactions and are told OH WELL!

In addition to that, the shared solutions nurse is going to come visit me. Not a home health care nurse but one of their own. She called me today and hopefully I will see her this week. That is assuming the weather doesn’t suck.

Speaking of the weather, I freaking hate this cold weather. My foot hurts which I think is related to the fridge temps. My eyes are screwed up and I have been worried all day about optic neuritis hitting again. I blame the crappy cold dry weather. We should ahve gone to Hawaii this year. Darnit.
