I am so proud of this country and the world. There are millions of people around the world that are proud of us Americans. The international community supported Obama 3 to 1 over McCain. Millions of people were able to see past the color of Obama’s skin. They were able to see past the lies. They were able to see something that made them in record numbers wait hours on end to vote.
It was a very fun night here. We had Indian food at then watched my brother on a news station in Spokane. He is a fancy dancy economist so he was part of their election coverage. After that, we yelled, screamed and jumped for joy at the TV. I loved Obama’s speach. While it wasn’t my favorite from him, it was at the top.
In MS specific election coverage, lets look at Michigan. They voted YES for two propositions that help us out:
This measure would amend the state constitution to permit human embryonic stem cell research with certain restrictions. The embryos must have been created for fertility treatment purposes; they must have been otherwise discarded; and they may not be used more than 14 days after cell division has begun.
This measure would allow the medical use of marijuana. Use would be limited to registered patients with certain debilitating medical conditions including cancer, glaucoma, HIV, hepatitis C, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. However, the measure would also allow unregistered patients and primary caregivers to assert medical reasons for using marijuana as a defense to any prosecution involving marijuana.
To those of you that are upset that he won, I just have this to say to you: Now you know how I felt for the last 8 years.

I am so pleased, but it’s bittersweet. Here in CA discrimination is alive and well as Prop 8 passed and the rights of all people to marry are being overturned.
Let’s hope we can come together as a country…finally….and work towards the change we desperately need. xoxo Feisty Jen

Yes, prop 8 makes me sad. I will post about that tonight. I was not ready to give up last night.
