National Multiple Sclerosis Society Luncheon

October 30th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Today I went to the local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Luncheon. It was a 150 dollar per plate lunch but NMSS let broken me go for free. It was pretty interesting for my people watching. I was very under dressed. I would say 75% were in business professional attire. My employers dress code is “wear some” and even thing I have seen dudes without shirts. I work at a professional office but with nerds. Nerds can’t dress. Anyway, I have never seen so many people with ties on in Seattle. I even took a picture:

It was hosted by our local Dennis Bounds from the NBC news station in Seattle. The keynote was by his boss, the President and General Manager Ray Heacox who has MS. The speeches were pretty good. He went over what the NMSS provides to the 8,000 people with MS living in their chapter. I learned a lot about the services they offer. I don’t qualify for them but it’s nice to know they are there if I need them some day.

The food was decent:

And they had three large screens like these:

They also showed this video produced by a young women with MS. It’s a pretty well done movie so check it out:

At the end I did donate some money and can’t wait for the MS Walk in April!

So where’s the picture of you at the event?

I’ve seen that video before, but still enjoy it each time I view it. Thanks for posting it here.

I am always the one behind the camera. :) Plus I went alone and my table included me and some guy at the other end. It was kind of a lonely lunch. heh

Well it sounds like it was a good experience overall. Good for you for going and for deciding to walk. maybe i should consider that in the future too.
