It looks like Navelgazing Midwife took every Vitamin D research article written and summed it up here: http://observantmidwife.blogspot.com/2008/07/vitamin-d-its-role-in-pregnant-women.html
Now granted, she is a midwife so it is more focused on childbirth but still has some excellent information on it. I have told many of a breastfeeding mothers that they should be getting their infants Vitamin D levels tested but very few listen to me. It looks like she is also on 10,000 IU of Vitamin D a day. I am down with the Vitamin D deficiency club.
In other news, does anyone wonder if their sense of humor or other personality qualities are caused by Multiple Sclerosis? Tom calls is “Nina Humor” but I wonder more and more if it’s really “MS Humor”. Do people look at me like I am nuts? Maybe… but looking back I think my mother would say I was always nuts!

Would you believe I left OUT about 50 articles I couldn’t possibly put in that extremely over-long article!?
Thank you for quoting it. My grandfather died of MS, so it is a topic near and dear to my heart. Thank you for illuminating and bringing the human side to the issue.

I am just glad SOMEONE did it. I started to do it a few times but I am not a medical professional and couldn’t piece it all together. Thanks for spending the time to do that. I will be using in the future in case people don’t believe vitamin D is important.

I think the D is important too. If you need to know how much to take for your level let me know. I think I have that info floating around.
I don’t know if crazy goes with MS but I’m a nutcase (lol).

My levels have been like this:
First test: 10
<50,000 IU vitamin D2 weekly for 3 months>
Second test: 40
<50,000 IU vitamin D2 every other week for 6 months>
Third test: 17
So now the doc has me on 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3. She wants me on the upper end due to the MS stuff but at this point I would be ok with normal.
