New Neurologist!

June 23rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

Today I had an appointment with my “second opinion” with hopes that become my primary Neurologist. While I have no problems with Dr. May, I wanted a normal non-focused Neurologist. I met with Dr. Gary Stobbe and I really liked him. He said treatment at this point is three steps:

  • Lifestyle – diet and exercise
  • Disease modifying agents – Copaxone
  • Monitoring progress and treating exacerbations

He ordered some blood work and a spinal MRI. I will have the MRI on Thursday. I will go back in to see him in a month to go over the labs and make sure Copaxone is working out. I did ask about medical marijuana and he just kind of giggled and then said there was some new research coming out about the use of THC medications but that they don’t create the “high” people are looking for. Darn.

I initially thought the University of Washington MS Clinic was the clinic for me but everyone suggested using a doc at James and Minor. Of course the doctor I picked is going to the UWMC MS Clinic at the end of August. I guess my initial thought of going to UWMC so I guess that is where I will end up.

We purchased a Nintendo Wii this weekend so that Tom’s kids *cough*Kids… right*cough* could play. It is quite the workout. We of course had to try it out for the kids *cough* so we played boxing and tennis. Boxing is quite a bit harder than one might think. Tom said he woke up sore this morning! We are so busy playing boxing, I was 30 minutes late for my Copaxone shot.

Wii! We have one too. I’m glad you are getting your excercise. BTW, if you get the right medical marijuana it will get you high. contact the THC foundation in your area and they will tell you how to get a prescription.

I saw that and figured I would need to contact them if I wanted a script. It’s mostly a joke since I am so boring and barely drink. “Mostly” :)
