I have been having panic attacks for a couple days now. I am guessing that it is due to my medication showing up this week. I am freaked out by the idea of giving myself injections daily. I know the panic attacks won’t go away until I start the injections so it’s going to be a long week. There was lots of Aetna and Shared Solutions drama today… Feel free to skip the rest if you don’t want to hear stupid insurance drama.
So, this morning I call Aetna Specialty Pharmacy to find out if they have verified my benefits with my insurance company Aetna. They said it normally takes 24-48 hours. They received the prescription and insurance information on Wednesday. Now, thats keep in mind that if i was to go to Walgreen’s for a prescription… they would verify my benefits in less than a minute however if I go to a Aetna Specialty Pharmacy it takes 24-48, none the less. They still had not verified my benefits this morning. She called over to Aetna and told me to call back in 15 minutes.
I call back in 15 minutes and they finally verified benefits. She said Copaxone would be shipped today and I would get it tomorrow. Great! Finally. I called the Copaxone folks to get the nurse visit setup and they said uhm, yeah it’s not ready so we will need to call you back later. Hm, ok… Normally it isn’t a big deal but I have a one day trip to LA coming up on Wednesday and won’t be able to make phone calls and schedule it. I hope they call tomorrow.
Well, later the day I check my claims and I see that they only sent me 30 days for 20 dollars. They told me that it was 90 days for 20 dollars. Now, I can afford the 40 dollars difference but I see no reason that I should have to so I called Aetna Specialty Pharmacy back. They said that there was something with my benefits that didn’t allow me to get 90 days for 20 dollars and that I needed to call my insurance company.
So, I called Aetna and asked them about this. He proceeded to argue with me about how the copay is 20 dollars if I buy retail or mail order. I told him that I understood but that one is 30 days and one is 90 days. Then he is completely confused and sends me to a manager. She says that yes indeed I should be getting 90 days for 20 dollars but that the Aetna Specialty Pharmacy is considered a retail Pharmacy and not mail order. Hmm, I am pretty sure they prescription is coming via THE MAIL. Anyway, she tells me to call the Aetna Rx Home Delivery Pharmacy to see if they offer Copaxone. Score! She says they do! So then I called the folks at Copaxone to get my prescription faxed over to Aetna Rx Home Delivery Pharmacy. The nice lady on the phone says that Aetna tells everyone that you can order from the Aetna Rx Home Delivery Pharmacy but that they are always wrong. Great….. So she offers to fax over the script to Aetna Rx Home Delivery Pharmacy just to see. I will call them tomorrow and see what they say. I don’t have much hope.

Way to go! No one will put anything over on you. How to raise your profit margin? make it so tough 75% of the patients just pay the extra charge. Honestly though I’m sorry it’s such a hassle to get what you are entitled to.
Be good to yourself

Well, Aetna is a for-profit insurance company so I don’t feel too bad for them.
I am sure glad they pay for massages… ahhh…. good times.

Don’t be anxious, try Bach’s Rescue Remedy. Look in my blog archive, I even left directions for where to get it and how to use it. Once again, are you sure you need the Copaxon? These drugs are all still experimental and from what I can tell they make most of their users feel like S—-. Do as you must but continue your research too.

I believe that they are a good choice for me. I am not willing go do interferon because I don’t want to feel like poop! I will see how this goes and re-evaluate. It’s not costing me much money or time to try it out.
There is so many new things being research that I wouldn’t be surprised to be on something else which has proven to be better in just a few years.
