I am of course thrilled that there are treatment options when it comes to this disease. I am also very pleased that my insurance covers them for a very low co-pay (20 dollars USD for 90 days – out of pocket is just over 6,000 USD). However, I can’t help but wonder how much the drugs would be without all the “other” stuff. As an example, I was given this bag and notebook at the doctors office yesterday (kitty wanted her picture taken):
Now, I took it thinking there was some new information that might not have been on their website but that doesn’t appear to be the case. The only thing that was useful (to read while going potty) in package of marketing materials was a print out of detailed information regarding the medication which happens to be on the website. The CD within the packet is a video which is on their website. And the big injection guide on the back of course right on their website also.
Next time I will remember to turn down the marketing material…

Heh, funny. You got the same notebook/bag that I got some years ago. At the time though their website did not have quite all that information available, especially the video; but they did have a popular message board since taken down. Recently pharma websites are improving, even though they are all marketing.

I am sure the notebooks are useful to someone even with all the info on the website but I would be a bad patient if I wasn’t informed before picking it.
Of all the MS drug companies, the Copaxone people seem the most marketing driven.

Watch out for Bayer Pharmaceuticals and Betaseron. They have, by far, the greatest number and variety of marketing strategies in play.
